Ravens vs. 49ers: Updated Prop Bet Gambling Guide for Super Bowl XLVII

There are hundreds of different types of exciting and exotic bets to place on the "Big Game", ranging from basic stuff such as which team will score first to specifics about the halftime show.

These are always fun to wager on, so let's take a look at some of the latest propositions (courtesy of William Hill) and make some picks.

We're going with field goal here, as both kickers have big legs and should have plenty of opportunities to try a long one in this game.

David Akers, the San Francisco 49ers PK, tied the NFL record back in September when he snuck a 63-yard FG through the uprights at Lambeau Field. Justin Tucker, a Baltimore Ravens rookie, has a career long of 56 yards and clearly has the trust of coach John Harbaugh

With both of these teams possessing elite defenses, it wouldn't be surprising to see numerous field goal attempts in this game—especially as the two Harbaugh brothers battle back and forth for field position.

Both Baltimore and San Francisco have racked up the penalties in 2012, but we think the Ravens will be the more penalized team when all is said and done on Sunday.

This year, the Ravens drew a whopping 143 flags for 1,315 yards, while the Niners were cited for slightly less—121 penalties for 1,070 yards.

Besides the basic stats, it's going to be tough for Baltimore's D to adjust to a mobile quarterback like Colin Kaepernick, and confusion in containment often leads to foolish mistakes and penalties.

While this could realistically go either way, the Ravens are the play if you want the best odds of cashing a ticket.

However, while the first drive of the game may be scripted and well practiced, we still think Kaepernick will try something crazy to open the game.

Perhaps he heaves a Hail Mary, or takes a flea flicker and tries to turn it into a massive gain—nothing is out of the question in the Super Bowl.

This is the last time for trick plays, crazy packages and daring maneuvers. We think the Niners will dial up a deep bomb for their QB's first pass, but it will fall incomplete due to the immense amount of difficulty, pressure and early-game jitters the young signal-caller will be experiencing.
