What appeared to be the sequel to Michael Jordan's famous "flu game" went down during Game 6 of the Chicago Bulls and Brooklyn Nets playoff series.
Chicago is sick and limping. Luol Deng is out with the flu, with symptoms so bad he reportedly spent time in a Chicago emergency room. The Bulls also missed Kirk Hinrich, who sat out his second game in a row with a bruised left calf muscle. Despite battling his own flu-like symptoms, Robinson stepped up from his reserve role again for the Bulls, and the results were messy.
In between time on the court, the Bulls point guard took multiple trips to the bench to pay his respects to the porcelain gods—or, in this case, a trash can. Robinson covered his head with a towel as he retched into the can, graciously blocking the viewing public from the worst of the awfulness wracking his body.
As you can hear in the video, Robinson told ESPN reporter Rachael Nichols he was going to play regardless of sickness, and he certainly held up his end of the deal.
With the team physically in shambles at this point in the playoffs (Taj Gibson is also suffering from flu-like symptoms) and Derrick Rose still sitting on the bench, the Bulls are going to have to dig deep if they want to pull out Game 7.
Even with Chicago playing rather abysmal ball on Thursday, Robinson also has to be commended for the huevos he displayed last night. The little guy has been putting on a destruction derby against the Nets so far this series, and even half-dead he managed to make Kris Humphries look like he's playing in high heels.
Robinson had 18 points in the contest—not a "Flu Game"-esque performance, but then again, no one can ever say he isn't trying his hardest to go Jordan on this series.
