10 Biggest Takeaways within the Players Championship.

It truly shouldn't have surprised anyone who a rather unheralded PGA Tour rookie would create a splash this past weekend for the Players Championship. It do, however, surprise everyone that it's David Lingmerth who will be your one to do this.

In a season that's already seen two rookies win PGA Tour events, including Derek Ernst who did it yesterday at Quail Hollow, Lingmerth became the latest first-timer to help you impress by battling inevitable winner Tiger Woods up to the 72nd ditch.

While others faltered around him, including playing spouse Sergio Garcia, Lingmerth held steady, overcoming some early rear nine struggles to pull just a shot of Tiger going to the 17th. A par there as well as a subsequent bogey on 18 relegated Lingmerth to your second-place tie, but this surprising performance earned the dog significant praise, and for great reason.

By most accounts, Lingmerth's swing is dependable, his poise was proven while playing with the final group on Tuesday and his determination to view it through will carry him well within the future. This guy is going to be heard from again rapidly.
